The extension does not create any folder nor name any files properly, what should I do?

Some extensions such as “Download Manager” may intefere with the downloader’s ability to create folders and/or rename files. You may try disabling other extensions one-by-one and see if it solves the issue.

If you found an extension that inteferes with the downloader’s ability to create folders and/or rename files, please email us the extension name, thank you!

The extension is stuck at downloading a file, what should I do?

The extension is probably undergoing a cooldown before retrying to fetch the file after failed attempts. To verify this,

  1. Visit chrome://extensions
  2. Find “RedNote Downloader”, and click “Details”
  3. Under “Inspect views”, click offscreen.html
  4. If you see messages with “Retrying in x secs
”, then the extension is undergoing a cooldown.

We suggest you wait for the cooldown. However, you may click the link in the message to download manually, or disable and re-enable the extension to clear all downloading tasks.

The extension is downloading files slowly, why is it the case?

There are several factors that limit the performance of the downloader.

  1. If no RedNote page is open, the extension will download slower since it will be unable to use the RedNote internal API. Keep a RedNote page open to improve speed.
  2. The downloader has a cooldown per file downloaded, in order to prevent being rate limited / blocked by RedNote’s servers.
  3. When many videos are downloaded consecutively, RedNote’s servers will occasionally refuse to send the complete video to us. The downloader will retry after a cooldown.

We continue to work hard to improve the performance of the downloader, in order to deliver a smooth user experience.

How do I delete my download history for a single note?

You can click the brush icon next to each download option. The button will delete your download history for that corresponding download option.

Why do I need to login to RedNote to “Download All Notes”?

RedNote’s website requires you to be logged in to access the details of the notes. You can try to click on any note on a user profile, and the website will ask you to login.

Can I “Download All Notes” on the feeds page?

Unfortunately, it is not possible at this moment due to the limitation set by RedNote’s website.

“Download All Notes” stops in the middle of progress, how do I fix it?

You can simply press “Download All Notes” again to download the remaining notes. Meanwhile, please check the power saving settings of your PC, as the extension will stop functioning when Google Chrome stops running.
